Professor - Combined Clinical/Counseling Specialization
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Web/Mobile-based Interventions, Mechanisms of Change
I am a Professor in the Clinical/Counseling Psychology PhD specialization at Utah State University. I received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno under the mentorship of Dr. Steven C. Hayes and completed my predoctoral internship at the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium.
My research primarily focuses on taking a theory-driven approach to developing web/mobile-based interventions to help address a range of psychological/behavioral problems. This work has mostly been in the area of acceptance and mindfulness-based approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), with problems including depression, anxiety, obesity, and addictive behaviors. I have received multiple grants for my research and have published extensively in the area of acceptance and mindfulness-based interventions.
I co-direct the USU ACT Research Group with Dr. Michael Twohig. I am planning to accept a new graduate student for the fall 2022.
