Congratulations to McKinley Withers!

McKinley has received a Minority Fellowship  through the American Psychological Association (APA).  This award recognized delivery of mental health services to under-served and minority populations.  His specific fellowship is for Services for Transition-Age Youth (STAY).  He will attend a summer institute in Washington DC and will receive additional professional development in her fellowship.

"My experience with youth as a teacher, mentor, and coach have helped me gain an appreciation for youth of all different backgrounds. I hope that this fellowship will propel me to move forward towards my goal of serving the under-served and creating interventions and programs that will give hope to the hopeless at such a pivotal time of transition." McKinley recently completed a his degree through the Professional School Counselor Education program here at USU.  He is in her fourth year ot teaching in secondary schools.  McKinley is employed at West Jordan High School, teaching AP Psychology and Psychology 1 & 2.  He also runs the speech and debate programs and teaches the debate class.  On top of all that, he is a husband and father.  Great work McKinley!  We are proud of your accomplishments!
