Psychology Major Information
Students can be admitted to the Department of Psychology as Pre-psychology majors by meeting the Utah State University admission requirements and requesting that their major be declared as Pre-Psychology.

students are taking classes that will help them compete in applying for graduate
school. Students plannint to attend graduate school need to become actively
involved with faculty research, form an association with Psi Chi and enroll in
experiential courses. Students should also take a course covering use of statistical
software (e.g., APLIA), offered through FCHD or Sociology. Get involved Early!

Moving From Pre Psychology To Psychology Major
Students will remain as pre psychology majors until they have completed certain requirements (see three necessary prerequisites below) and have contacted their advisor for an evaluation of these requirements.
Three Necessary Prerequisites To Move From Pre Psychology To Psychology Major
To declare a Psychology major, a student must make written application to the Department after all three of the following prerequisites have been met.
- Completion of at least 40 semester credits with a USU GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Completion of at least 18 semester credits of the University Studies requirement with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Completion of the following: Psy 1010, 1100, 1400, 1410, 2800, 2010 with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
